 Magnificent displays of crystallisation,

packed into an outstanding porcelain tile

A gripping piece of porcelain that has been inspirited by the effects created by rock salt. The material forms when saltwater from oceans and lakes evaporates and is then covered with sediment over hundreds or thousands of years. These deposits are found in many regions around the world, but it was first discovered in Winsford, Cheshire in 1844, when local prospectors were originally searching for coal.

This mined material, in its found state, is quite extraordinary – crystallisation is either displayed in waves or cluster pockets. These are crammed within the rock. When cut the arrangement is simply stunning.

Our Rock Salt range has taken the soul of the natural material and transformed it into a porcelain tile. Five unrefined shades present the rock – from a collection of tranquil hues of pearl, grey & sage to deeper nuances of gunmetal and earthy red. These are displayed across a versatile suite of sizes – from traditional shapes to the almighty sheets, and are professionally finished with a smooth matt or tactile polished surface.
