Harking back to the French medieval era, craftsman first created encaustic tiles to add a touch of luxury and status to regal homes. At the beginning of the 13th century, such tiles were introduced into British royal palaces and abbeys.
The amazing collaboration of colours and patterns when the clay tiles were drawn together made them hugely aspirational. The pleasure from encaustic tiles has evolved overtime, as tones became contemporary, along with an introduction of modern geometric patterening.
Our porcelain Pastel range has harnessed the tradition which applying a stylist twist. Bringing its abundance of colour to a cloakroom, bathroom or hallway.
The thirteen patterns within the range are accompanied with three complementary base tiles: a light dove grey, a smoky silver and a charcoal black - these can act as a border alongside the encaustic design , or as an additional contrast to a facing wall or surface.
